waking up

dreaming in hues

red, black and gray

tangled in sheets

wrapped up in you

then reality wakes

like tears streaming down her face

like playing with fire

and always ending up burned

pain is temporary though

after the fire consumes

spring beckons growth

and the burn heals

t i m e

the clock keeps ticking

the earth keeps spinning

and one day when

there’s been enough

you’ll hold me close

under the stars

and I’ll trust again

I can wait

now I know

that you exist.

shapes

pacing through each day

like a child frightened of what’s in the closet

I keep hiding

keep waiting

just be polite and no one will notice

*

a quiet screaming

just behind the iris

a yearning to breathe uninhibited, wild

free

*

this fire inside keeps scorching

destroying old scars

so new ones may erupt

*

growth and change, this ebb and flow

is exhausting

round and round we go

*

highs and lows

extreme mundane

routines are fucking

suffocating me

*

I need to feel again.

passion ignited

twisting and contorting bodies

shudder and break, free

falling into one shape.

playing with snowflakes

stagnant fear
confusion and longing.
a lost little boy wandering,
wondering
through a life filled with soaring highs and crouching debilitating lows.

just keep going though
don’t ponder too long
keep your masks and task through each day avoiding the quiet, eluding winter’s long kiss.

find yourself
free yourself

fill in the pieces that have been stolen.
dream once more of emerald forests and creatures of the ether, of goblins and faeries, of warlocks and dragons,
passion and love. it shouldn’t be so hard…

I was reminded today of sword fighting with sparkling eyes and running so fast our legs ached and catching your breath, a novelty.
laughter so bright that even the monsters lurking didn’t dare defy… they couldn’t catch us anyway.

do you remember our hidden caves and secret gardens?
the world was so wide with promises held like dew drops  on the backs of leaves in early spring.
return those places to memory, visit them, bask in their glow a while and fill your cup before it’s too late.
I miss you.
